¡Hola!

  • Jul. 9th, 2008 at 5:20 PM

Hello everyone! It is FREEZING today! After this email I have to walk back to the house which is about a 15 minute walk. Brrrrrr...! Yesterday evening Amanda and I went out to dinner at a very good restaurant. For dessert we had lemon sherbert with Champagne. Yummy! I was thinking that we couldn´t continue eating like that due to the expense; however, when the bill came it was $100 pesos which translated to $33.33 dollars. It is SO cheap here! I love it! Going to buy a hat for my ears this evening. They´re about to fall off. Anyway, I hope this email finds all of you well. ¡Hablamos mañana!

¡Adios!

All is well in Bariloche!

I´m going to stop apologizing for sending group emails. It just makes life a lot easier. Deal with it! As the subject reads, all is well. Our luggage was on the last flight from BA yesterday evening. We are VERY happy to say the least! Classes started today and it was a lot of fun. There are only 3 of us in my class, plus Samantha our instructor. I really love it. It´s very informal, but educational. We start off with some grammar and we converse a lot; everything has to be said in spanish unless you can´t think of the translation. Amanda and I just got back from the supermarket. We wanted to have food for breakfast. I´m about to call a taxi as I have all the bags to carry up an old dirt road because Amanda is now in her class. I´m just glad I didn´t have to use old newspapers to create a new fashion statement (Thanks Tio! You´re always so helpful!). Take care everyone! Until next time!

Adios,

Update from Bariloche

  • Jun. 16th, 2008 at 5:50 AM

Hello everyone. Another wonderful group email. Amanda and I made it to Bariloche this morning. Yay! It´s so beautiful here. The snow covered mountains are gorgeous and the weather is great! Some of my fellow students are bummed out because it hasn´t snowed enough for ski season. No biggie for me as strapping on wooden sticks to my feet and barreling down a mountain has no thrill for me. Well, our luggage was NOT here when we arrived, so we headed to the school, and took our placement test. My class is in the morning session and Amanda has the afternoon session, which kind of sucks, but people here have the siesta, so I will probably join in. :) We came back to the airport, which is very tiny and completely seems to shut down in between flights; there are 3 airlines that fly here with about 2-3 flights a day each. VERY small. We FINALLY got in touch with a human being at Delta and they said our luggage should be here with the last flight of the day, of course, which is at 7:30. I hope you guys danced naked around those Beltane fires or prayed your guts out because we need a miracle. Anyway, after this we´re heading back to our little house. Talk to you guys later.

love ya,

Larissa
